Black taxi steals money at Noi Bai airport

On January 1, Noi Bai airport police fined a driver for one million dongs when carrying 5 Japanese tourists for a distance of one kilometer.

On December 31, 2022, Noi Bai Airport Security Center received a letter from a family of Japanese tourists complaining that they had paid one million dongs to a driver to take them from international terminal T2 to domestic terminal T1 about 1 km away. This family from Tokyo to Noi Bai on flight VN311 landed at 14:30 on December 30, 2022, then connected to Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa).

After checking the cameras at terminals T1 and T2, the Airport Security Center determined that the ride was made by a 40-year-old male driver, residing in Mai Dinh commune, Soc Son district.

Noi Bai International Airport Police summoned the driver and this person admitted to collecting 200,000 VND each in the car carrying 5 people. The authorities have fined the driver for administrative violations for causing public disorder and collected one million dongs.

The airport side then emailed information to the Japanese tourist’s family, saying that they would return the money when they returned to Noi Bai on January 3.

Four days ago, the Noi Bai Airport Security Center also received a complaint, then traced a taxi driver “stealing” money from tourists. This driver took an Indian tourist couple from Hanoi’s Old Quarter to Noi Bai and collected 2.7 million VND.

The airport security center checked the security camera system and found the vehicle. The taxi driver admitted the incident and returned the change of 2.43 million VND to the customer, subject to the company’s discipline, and committed not to repeat the offense.
